QUALITY AND FOOD SAFETY COMMITMENT
Since 1985, Julie’s continues to meet the demands of a rapidly expanding local and export markets. Despite the growth that our business undergone, we strongly believe that our success depends greatly on the supply of good quality biscuit products. Key to this belief is the responsibility to ensure that the quality and food safety of all products are upheld and not compromised.
Here at Julie’s, we demonstrate unyielding commitment towards quality and food safety throughout the production chain. We believe that quality and food safety is the responsibility of all employees. We set meticulous standards and engage our approved reputable vendors/suppliers in our food safety efforts. All materials supplied would come with a Certificate of Analysis (COA) and our trained Quality Assurance team will conduct thorough inspections on the materials to ensure that they comply with necessary standards and requirements. Our in-house laboratory is capable in performing physical, chemical and biological analyses (e.g. food contact surface swab, air microbiological monitoring and pathogen environmental monitoring) on our raw materials, finished products and plant equipment / facilities. We have engaged third-party external laboratories certified with ISO 17027 to perform other critical laboratory analyses such as:
- Pathogenic microorganisms detection
- Mycotoxins test
- Heavy metal test
- Pesticides screening
- GMO testing
- Plasticizers and plastic monomer migration test
- Radioactivity test
- Unintended adulterants test
- Nutritional facts analysis
- Monitoring & measuring equipment calibration etc.
We put great emphasis in maintaining a hygienic processing environment to deliver safe and high quality products. Our manufacturing plants are carefully designed and evaluated for any possible food safety risks. We have developed proper controlled procedures in place, which include waste management, personal hygiene, pest control program and foreign bodies control – sieve, filter, magnetic separator, metal detector, x-ray machine. Regular verification activities are performed by our Quality Assurance team to ensure that all control measures set are well executed.
We have a Quality Management System (QMS) designed for continual improvement and delivering consistent products manufactured to our consumers. This system enables our biscuit manufacturing processes to be monitored, recorded, improved and to guarantee that all products are manufactured within the defined tolerances. Our processing plants are also certified with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) food safety program, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HALAL assurance system. Implementation of HACCP plan is a preventive approach to eliminate / control / reduce any potential hazards that can cause our finished products to be unsafe. In 2015, we have successfully upgraded our food safety management system to FSSC 22000, a latest food safety certification scheme for food manufacturers. This certification entails us to have additional contingency plans in place for emergency situations such as fire, water rationing, sabotage, food bio-vigilance and bioterrorism cases.
As an approved biscuit manufacturer in Malaysia, our processing plants are regularly inspected by the Ministry of Health and third party certification bodies to ensure the compliance of relevant laws and requirements. We are audited to the requirements of the Malaysian Food Regulations 1985 and other relevant standards including Malaysian Standard 1480:2007, ISO 22000:2005, ISO/TS 22002-1 as well as Codex Alimentarius Standard.
